Pierre Martin, a quantum physicist, learns that he has inherited an inn from an aunt that he has not seen in over fifty-six years in Sainte-Simon-du-Nord, a small village on the edge of the boreal forest in the Saguenay. At sixty-five, he is thrilled, seeing the opportunity to drastically change his life after ten years as a widower. He can’t wait to leave and bring his daughter, Catherine, an ambitious fashion journalist at Figaro Madame and hardcore Parisian with him, to try to teach her something about the meaning of happiness. However, shortly after their arrival in Canada, Pierre, the eternal optimist, realizes that his dream is quickly becoming a nightmare. The town’s mayor endured Jeanne the lady from France for over fifty years, and it is out of the question that he will do the same for another generation!
